Dinner Rolls

"Nana's" Parker House Rolls 2 cups flour 2 ½ t quick yeast 1/4 cup sugar 1t.salt Put first 4 ingredients in large bowl. pour ½ cup milk and ½ cup water in a microwave safe cup, heat in microwave to 130*F about 1minuite 25 seconds. add 1/4 cooking oil, add 1 egg slightly beaten in the centre of bowl, beat on medium speed, slowly add milk water and oil continue to mix adding 1 ½ cups more flour until dough forms a nice ball. Place dough in a lightly greased bowl let rise in a warm place 1 hr divied into 12 pieces loosely cover with plastic let rest 10 min. using a rolling pin roll just the centre of the edges should be slightly thicker then centre brush the tops with melted butter fold in half almost even but not quite. place rolls 2" apart on baking sheet cover with plastic wrap let rise in a warm place ½ hour brush tops with melted butter bake at 350 F for 12 - 15 min. Crescent Rolls using the same roll recipe. Cut dough in half, roll each half into a 12" circ

"Boxing Day Creamed Turkey"

My sister Shirley introduced this recipe to the family in the early 70's, and it's been our Boxing Day meal ever since! Some even prefer it to the Turkey Dinner itself "Boxing Day Creamed Turkey" You'll need: 12 puffed pastry shells 4 cups of chopped turkey 2 cans of cream of celery soup 2 cans of cream of chicken soup 2 cups of frozen mixed vegetables Combine 4 cups of chopped turkey, 2 cans of cream of celery soup, 2 cans of cream of chicken soup mix until combine, add just enough milk to cover, heat over medium heat until it starts to boil. add the vegetables . heat for 5 more minutes. Pour into shells and serve.

old fashioned sugar cookies

Ever year about a week from Christmas, My Sister and I go to Mom's to do our Christmas baking. We have been doing this for as long as I can remember. This sugar cookies recipe is from the 1940s. Cook Time: 10 minutes 3/4 cup butter, softened 1 cup white sugar 2 eggs 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg 1/2 teaspoon salt In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in the flour, baking powder,nutmeg and salt. Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. "Super Easy" Chocolate Fudge

"Super Easy" Chocolate Fudge Makes 64, 1” squares (2.2 lbs (1 kg) 3 cups (750 mL) semi-sweet chocolate chips 1 can (300 mL) Regular Eagle Brand sweeten condensed milk 2 tsp (10 mL) vanilla extract 1/2 cup (125 mL) chopped nuts Melt chocolate chips with Eagle Brand milk on low heat. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla and nuts. Spread evenly in parchment paper-lined 8-inch (20 cm) square pan. Chill 4 hours or until firm. Remove from pan and cut into squares

Holiday Teddy Grams

Holiday Teddy Grams 1/2 cup of butter 2/3 cup sugar 1 egg 2T molasses 2 cup of flour 1/2 t cinnamon 1/4 salt -in a large bowl beat together butter and sugar until light and fluffy -stir in egg molasses and the rest of the dry ingredients mixing until combined -heat oven 350 roll out dough 1/4" cut with your favourite cutters place on a ungreased cookie sheet bake 8 minutes remove to a wire rack and cool completely before decorating makes 24 cookies

Pecan Tart

Pecan Tart 3/4 cups sugar 3/4 cups corn syrup 3 eggs 1/3 cups of butter melted 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1 or 2 cup of pecans Mix all together the sugar, corn syrup, eggs, butter, and the salt in a large bowl. Then add the pecans! Pour into an unbaked tart shell. 2/3 full Heat oven to 350 and bake tarts for 20minutes or until it sets in the middle. cool for an hour before eating!
