2 cups of flour
4 tsp. of baking powder
1/2 tsp of salt
2tsps. of sugar
1/2 cup of shortening
3/4 cups of milk

sift dry ingredients into a bowl,cut in shortening until coarse crumbs make a well in center add milk all at once stir quickly with a fork
turn onto a lightly floured surface roll or pat dough to 1/2 inch cut out biscuits bake on an ungreased cookie sheet 450 degree oven for 10-12 minutes depending on your oven

I have learned that the key word here is "sift". I learned this from a wonderful woman in Campbell's Cove who makes the best biscuits. We have gotten away from sifting.

Sifted biscuits are the lightest and stay light and fluffy for days - if they last that long.
